Columbus Georgia has many shopping places, entertainment at the Springer Opera House, technical schools and great companies to work for such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tsys, Aflac, Synovus and Carmike Cinemas. The National Infantry Museum is located at Fort Benning GA

Columbus GA now has the longest urban white water course in the world located on the famous Chattahoochee river. Our Uptown and Midtown areas of town are absolutely beautiful with historic homes and exquisite dining. 

The Springer Opera House, located in downtown Columbus GA, was opened in February 21, 1877 and many famous actor have performed at Springer.  There are many outdoor events including a market day  offering locally grown vegetables and fruits including  arts and craft festivals in Lakebottom Park. 

The RiverCenter for the Performing Arts is located in the historic area of downtown Columbus GA and is the centerpiece of the city's new arts and entertainment district.  The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1855, became the third Orchestra founded in the United States and employs as many as 90 musicians for any given concert and currently performs at the RiverCenter for performing arts.

Rankin Arts Center is the downtown venue for Columbus State University's Continuing Education Program.  This center serves is important for the arts community in the uptown area by offering a wide variety of innovative, good quality, programs in visual and performing arts.

The Civic Center public assembly with 10,000 seats and hosts sports and entertainment events and is home for the famous Columbus Hockey Cottonmouths. The Columbus Museum is the largest art and history museums in Georgia and one of the largest museums in the Southeast US with vistors from all over the world.  

The National Civil War Naval Museum features two original Civil War military vessels, uniforms, equipment and weapons used by the Union and Confederate navies including a Confederate ironclad ship simulator.

The Historic Columbus Georgia Foundation is a non-profit organization to promote historic preservation, heritage education and tourism. Its projects include the establishment of the Columbus Historic district, Heritage Corner and Park and many more.
